Our Mentors are expected to:
Be disciplined. Do what it is that you say you were going to do. Don’t promise, the moon and stars, and then leave your mentee hanging.
Keep records. We are not expecting daily tracking with excessive notes. But we do expect you to keep track of when you’re calling your mentee, how many times you’re meeting each month, and basic details like that.
Be respectful. When interacting with your mentee, speak to them the way that she would want someone to speak to you. And if, for some reason, the conversations become such that you cannot be civil, please reach out to someone at Blessed Newbie to let us know.
Be open to training. The fact that you are an experienced teacher is great, and you may even have served as a mentor before. But… you’ve never served as a mentor for this organization. So just be open to the fact that we may do things a little differently than you’ve done in the past, especially if you’ve been a mentor with an organization that was not Christian-based. Many of the principles that we strive for, and seek to operate in or based in Christian values and principles. We expect our mentors to go through a basic discipleship training so they know how to interact with their mentees in this manner.
Be willing to show them how. We can all picture that one supervisor that loves to tell you to do things, but never shows you how to do what it is that they expect you to do. Yeah… don’t be him.
Show your mentee how to do the thing that you expect them to do.
Show your mentee how to do the thing that you expect them to do.Well, now that you know what is expected & and you know how vital the role is, are you ready to sign up to get started as a mentor? To officially sign up as a mentor with Blessed Newbie, just click HERE.
