Hunger No More is a missions outreach project of Blessed Newbie. The purpose of Blessed Newbie is to ensure that children have access to good, nutritional food throughout the summer.
During the Corona virus epidemic, it became apparent that schools filled a critical need by providing free meals to students who otherwise would go hungry. And when schools are closed during the summer, food instability gets worse – particularly among the nations’ children. In the midst of this food instability, Feeding America.org estimates that a staggering 108 billion pounds of food are thrown away each year. Rather than allow this food to continue to be thrown away in such record numbers, we hope to partner with local grocers and restaurant owners to collect food before it goes out of date, and to turn these food donations into healthy, nutritious food for students in need. By doing so, we help to ensure that no food goes to waste and… that kids are hungry, no more!
In meeting our goal, we also plan to operate a food pantry during the summer that is specifically designed to help students in need. For the food pantry, we will collect items from the local community, such as cereal, and pantry staples that can be used to help ensure that no kid goes hungry.
